  • Detail

Nowadays, although special paper is no longer a fresh term, the types of special paper are still increasing. The images printed with special paper are exquisite and elegant, and the manufacturing technology level and overall strength have been further improved. In high-end binding and packaging, people have a special preference for it. It has become an elegant "endorsement paper". Different special paper has different uses. The correct use of printing technology on different types of special paper will add icing on the cake and add a lot of color to the printed matter. In addition, the use of different post press processing methods on the surface of special paper will also produce different styles. For example, the use of hot stamping electrochemical aluminum foil on the surface of special paper is deeply welcomed by consumers

limited to space, this time I will only introduce you to several types of commonly used special paper. Embossed paper uses mechanical embossing or wrinkling on the paper to form concave convex patterns on its surface to make the paper more textured, which is embossed paper. The embossing process is very simple. After the flat base paper is completely dry, it is put into the embossing machine and cut into rolls under the pressure of two rollers. One of the rollers is engraved with embossing pattern, and the paper is embossed into grain after passing through. Due to the deep texture of embossed paper, only one side of the paper is usually embossed. Embossing paper is the largest family of special paper. It has rich colors. Popular in the market are brown, beige, dark blue, purplish red, white and so on. At present, in addition to embossing on offset paper, coated paper, paperboard and white cardboard, many soft packaging materials are often embossed before and after printing to improve the effect of packaging and decoration

1. Types of embossing

embossing can be divided into overprint embossing and non overprint embossing

overprint embossing is to emboss the printed pattern according to the pattern of printing, so as to make the pattern bulge and play a decorative role

without overprint embossing, the pressed pattern is not directly related to the pattern of printing. There are many kinds of embossed patterns, such as cloth pattern, oblique cloth pattern, etc. Non overprint embossing is widely used in coated book paper, lacquer paper, plastic synthetic paper, vegetable parchment and other decorative materials

2. Printing precautions

(1) monochrome or two-color printing

compared with coated paper, the printing effect of embossed paper is quite different from that of proofing paper, which is difficult to achieve the effect of ordinary paper. Because the printing of embossed paper is like color stacking printing on a full plate field ink layer, there is a problem of superposition of ink color and paper color, which makes the printed color significantly different from the designed calibration color. In addition, the lines of embossed paper have a certain ink absorption effect, the ink flowing into the groove is not easy to dry, and some concave convex lines can not be printed with ink. Therefore, embossing paper is best printed in one or two colors

(2) we should pursue the three-dimensional feeling. Making book covers and gift packages with embossed paper mainly pursues the use of its special colors and lines to achieve a certain special effect, rather than the fine and clear printing image. Although the printing image of embossing paper is not fine enough, it looks more three-dimensional, which is unmatched by coated paper. (3) The printing ink volume and printing pressure should be large, and the surface of the embossed paper is uneven and thick. Therefore, only by increasing the ink volume and printing pressure can the image be printed, make up for the influence of the embossed paper itself on the color, and reduce the color error between the printed matter and the original. (4) Printing is better than offset printing. There are uneven irregular lines on the surface of embossed paper, which is prone to uneven local color of the image during printing. The ink layer of offset printing is thin, and the uneven ink color caused by the characteristics of the grain itself is more serious. In contrast, judging whether the experiment is normal or not in the process of the experiment, the ink layer printed is relatively thick, which can reduce the occurrence of this problem. In addition, compared with imported embossed paper, domestic embossed paper is prone to discoloration if it is printed by offset printing. Imported color embossing paper is mostly original pulp color embossing paper, that is, the color pigment is added to the pulp in the papermaking process, while domestic color embossing paper is mostly made of white embossing paper. The bleached dye itself has a certain acidity and alkalinity. If offset printing is adopted, and the pH value of the fountain solution itself is not well controlled, it may lead to the reaction of the colorant or pigment of the embossing paper itself, resulting in the discoloration of the embossing paper. Silk printing does not need fountain solution, so it will not cause discoloration after embossing paper printing. Pattern paper designers and printers are constantly looking for unique styles to make their works stand out. At this time, patterned paper is their good helper. This kind of paper feels soft and has a beautiful appearance. The noble characteristics it shows are incomparable with ordinary paper. There are mainly the following kinds of pattern paper

1. Patterned paper

in the papermaking process, the wet paper is placed between two absorbent soft flannelette, and the line texture of the flannelette will be printed on the paper. The lines and patterns of patterned paper are faint, soft and beautiful. Some imported patterned paper contain pure cotton, so the texture is more soft and natural, and full of toughness, which is suitable for packaging and embossing

2. This kind of paper has a warm feeling for customers. In addition, book publishers also hope that the paper will be strong and durable to ensure the stable and consistent printing effect. The products made of antique effect pattern paper just meet their requirements

3. Inclusion effect pattern paper

in the 1980s, the trend of environmental protection was popular. In order to achieve the effect of natural recycling, a variety of dyes and sundries were added to the pulp sizing machine, and the spotted paper came into being. When adding inclusions, the number and size of spots should be controlled appropriately. If the number of spots is too large, it will destroy the art pattern, and too few will give people the feeling of contamination

inclusion effect pattern paper is the first choice for certificates, book covers and restaurant recipes. Due to the special effect of paper appearance, it is also used in the annual reports and financial statements of many companies. In addition, it can make the layout more active and attractive. Nowadays, there are many kinds of inclusion paper on the market, including ore, snow, petals and so on

4. Uncoated pattern paper

many printers and designers unanimously advocate uncoated pattern paper with good hand feel and beauty. The non coated pattern paper combines the natural texture of the textured paper and the good printability of the coated paper. Both sides of the paper are specially treated to reduce the water absorption of the paper and leave the imprint on the surface of the paper. The texture effect is better

5. Conqueror was created in 1888. Conqueror's London Castle watermark was initially used. It was not changed to Knight plus English watermark until the early 1990s. This distinctive watermark is world-famous. At present, it has become the symbol and code of high-quality commercial, writing and printing paper. It is sold in more than 80 countries and regions around the world and is deeply loved by hotels, banks, enterprises and even government agencies

antique paper can be divided into the following five categories

(1) aristocratic

made of 100% cotton, with delicate hand feel and pure quality, flexible and upright. The quality is top-level and the price is not cheap. It has never been sold in China

(2) grain type

grain type rigid antique paper has a good sales in China and is the top of rigid antique paper. It has more than ten colors and a quantitative quantity of more than 100g ~ 2200g/m2, which can be selected by customers. Its uneven grain surface has a strong hand feel, which is loved by designers

(3) sliding surface

is divided into two series: ordinary sliding surface and super sliding surface. They have a smooth surface and give people a sense of cleanliness. At the same time, it is easy to print and is loved by the printing factory

(4) concept class

it is a new series. The shading is all white, but after coating with different colors, the paper will change five colors with metallic luster from different angles, and the printing effect is outstanding and amazing

(5) digital

paper specially used for digital proofing

printing should highlight the natural color

no matter what kind of special paper, printing should highlight its texture. When designing patterns, attention should be paid to avoid large format visual tone printing and add more patterns of lines and color blocks. For all eye tone patterns, amplitude modulation plus method shall be adopted as far as possible, and frequency modulation plus method shall be used with caution

in the selection of pattern colors, special attention should be paid to the balance and matching of colors. Most specialty papers are colored. Printing on these specialty papers is like secondary printing on the basis of existing field ink. Therefore, we must emphasize the color contrast and the principle of master-slave. For the printing of special paper, the inherent color of special paper should be highlighted as much as possible, and the color of the foil should be treated more falsely to avoid distracting the guest and seizing the main subject

manufacturers should be aware of the market. At present, the market prospect of special paper is very good, and the sales performance of many manufacturers is also good. Guangzhou Ganggu Paper Co., Ltd. is subordinate to Antalis company of France. It has its own forest, pulp mill, paper mill and sales network, and has been listed in Europe; The sales of Xiemao Paper Group is very distinctive, with five companies and many sales agents in China

however, the price of special paper is not cheap, especially the price of rigid ancient paper, Italian color, crystal color and other varieties is higher, and the market demand for them is still limited to a certain extent. When enterprises are involved in the sales of special paper, the market investigation must be in place. If they do not know well and do not understand the characteristics of the consumer market, it will be difficult to open the market control system, which has the function of power-off memory
