Review of photovoltaic industry in 2016 and outlook for 2017

on February 16, 2017, Wang Bohua, Secretary General of China Photovoltaic Industry Association, introduced in detail the development of China's photovoltaic industry in 2016 and predicted the development trend in 2017. The following are the details of the report:

2016 industrial Review

-- polysilicon

scale: in 2016, China's polysilicon output was about 194000 tons, an increase of 17.6% year-on-year. The annual import volume of solar grade polysilicon is about 136000 tons (including silicon ingots)

cost: it continues to decline, and the cost of some enterprises has fallen to less than 70 yuan/kg

Technology: with the continuous progress of production technology, a 5000 ton electronic polysilicon factory has been built. High quality products have been produced in small batches in the semiconductor field. New and old customers are welcome to visit the factory! Application

-- silicon wafer

scale: in 2016, China's silicon wafer output exceeded 63gw, an increase of more than 31% year-on-year

cost: the production cost continued to decline, and the processing cost per piece fell to less than 1.4 yuan

Technology: with continuous progress, the application of polycrystalline diamond wire has begun to accelerate, and the feeding amount and drawing speed of single crystal are also improving

products: the development of differentiation is obvious, and the shipment volume of p-type single crystal and n-type single crystal has increased significantly

note: accurate industrial data are being counted in the optimization and upgrading of Maozhan base and the overall acceleration of construction, which is expected to be released at the end of March and reflected in the annual report of China photovoltaic published in April

-- scale of battery chips: in 2016, the output of battery chips in China exceeded 49gw, with a year-on-year increase of more than 19.5%

cost: it continues to decline, and the processing cost of some enterprises has been reduced to less than 0.5 yuan/w

Technology: the production technology continues to progress, perc, black silicon and other technologies realize large-scale production, and the single polycrystalline efficiency reaches 20.5% and 19% respectively

-- component size: in 2016, China's component output was about 53gw, with a year-on-year increase of more than 15.7%, leading for 10 consecutive years

cost: it continues to decline, and the processing cost of some enterprises even falls below 2.45 yuan/w (0.35 US dollars/w)

Technology: the production technology continues to progress, and technologies such as half piece, MBB, and laminated tiles continue to emerge

features: the degree of automation, digitalization and networking of component production is constantly improving
